PVLL Player Age Rules and Division Guidelines

Little League Baseball has specific rules for calculating League Age.

For almost all players, league age will the age of the player on August 31 of the current season.  The only deviation from this is for players born between May 1, 2005 and August 31, 2005, so please use the calculator if you aren’t certain.  Below are some guidelines for determining which league is the best fit for a player:

Tee Ball

• Any child league age of 4 – 5 is eligible for Tee Ball (Most T-ball players are league age 4 - 5 year olds)
  
• Generally this is for kids who have never played baseball before, and batters will use a Tee (no coach pitch)
• Any child who turns 4 years old by August 31 of the current season is eligible to play

Farm

• Players must be league age 5 and played one year of tee ball, (Most farm players are league age 6 – 7 year olds)
• Farm is a bridge between Tee Ball and Baseball.Batters will utilize coach pitching with focus on learning game fundamentals

AA Minors 

• Players who are league age 7 – 11 are eligible to be selected to AA Minor League Division team.(Most players are 7 – 9 years old in AA)
• All players must attend one tryout to be drafted into Minors
• Provides introduction to player pitching and adherence to baseball rules
• Provides an excellent bridge for children to get acclimated to the rules of baseball without some of the pressures
• Some inter-league travel involved

AAA Minors

• Players who are league age 7 – 11 are eligible to be selected to AAA Minor League Division team.(Most players are 9 – 11 years old in AAA)
• All players must attend one tryout to be drafted into Minors and League Age 8 players must have played at least 1 season in the AA Minors division to be eligible
• Some inter-league travel involved
• League Age 9 players eligible for All Stars

Majors

• Players who are league age 10 – 12 are eligible to be selected to Major League Division team.(Most Majors players are 11 – 12 years old)
• All players must try out to be drafted
• Competitive play with inter-league travel

Juniors

• Players who are league age 12 – 14 are eligible to be selected to Junior League Division team.(Most Majors players are 13 – 14 years old)
• All players much try out to be drafted
• Competitive play with inter-league travel
